JAKARTA – A strong sense of nationalism filled Fatahillah Square in Jakarta's Old Town during the 2026 Heroes Day commemoration. The event served as an opportunity to honor the sacrifices of national heroes and encourage the public to carry forward their spirit of dedication.
The series of events was officially opened by Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The activities were part of the Heroes Day commemoration held from November 1–2, 2026.
Carrying the theme "My Hero, My Role Model: Moving Forward Together to Continue the Struggle," the event encouraged the public to embrace the values of heroism in everyday life.
Various activities were presented, including historical exhibitions, memorabilia displays, a People's School exhibition, talk shows, games, fashion shows, music and art performances, musical presentations, and video mapping.
Beyond entertainment, the event provided an educational platform for the public, particularly younger generations, to learn more about Indonesia's history and the sacrifices made by its heroes.
Inspiring the Younger Generation
Heroes Day reminds us that the spirit of struggle is not limited to the battlefield. It can also be demonstrated through education, creativity, social responsibility, unity, and meaningful contributions to society.
Young people are encouraged to continue the legacy of national heroes through achievements in education, technology, sports, arts, and culture.
The commemoration at Jakarta's historic Old Town area is expected to strengthen nationalism and inspire future generations to contribute to the nation's progress.
Heroes Day is not merely an annual celebration, but a moment to reflect on the nation's history and build a better future through unity and shared commitment.
